It occurs to me that the archiving tool I used in my last post is quite challenging. Why use that when there is a much simpler way to honor someone else’s work? Just save it using the Internet Archive.
How so? Glad you asked.
Join the Internet Archive (and donate while you’re at it.)
You can archive without joining, but there are some additional benefits that make joining worthwhile. For instance, you can also save all the outgoing links to the web page you are saving.
Next, follow my process by watching the screencast example.
That is it. So…you have a copy on the Internet Wayback Machine, it’s in your web archive on archive.org, and you can download it and view it offline with the app, Webrecorder Player. Sweet.

Thank you – I appreciate these process posts. I found I already had an account as well – had forgotten all about that one.

This is a resource I kept returning to and forgetting until they revived popcornmaker and after I began to have my creations killed by Google et al. It is why I began exploring webrecording, too. With the return of public domain creative works I suspect it will be an even more important source for remix, redux, mashup culture. Thanks for dropping by and taking in the hills and hollars and sinkholes and cave down yonder past the pawpaw patch.
