Thanks to the Unthanked

I have numerous projects that get reviewed by an anonymous reader in the ACUE-created, university-sponsored course I am taking now. I wish I knew who they were. Their job is thankless. So I decided to thank them in a way that they might not have been expecting–via remix.

Here is the original comment:

“Terry,

One of the hardest things to do for students is to help motivate them to persist in their studies and become more active and motivated. Offering students choices and allowing students to revise sounds like it can really help students become more effective in their studies. The rubric areas were clearly defined and I have assigned you the badge for the module. Good luck in implementing and improving upon these techniques in the future.ACUE Reader , Mar 8 at 9:21am”

I remixed their comments into a poem. Then I turned the poem into a video using Lumen 5.

The poem:

The video:

These are not remarkable products, but I like to think that their impetus is a worthy one. I am grateful for the work they do to try to engage with my work. I reciprocate and always try to walk that walk.

I never thought of you as someone who needed to be “more active and motivated”.

In fact the extra steps you seem to take daily, to create a poem, to put it on a note pad, then into a video, then share it all on this blog, demonstrates a level of self-motivation far beyond normal.
