Every year

when grades are launched

but before teacher’s remorse

there is a quiet moment

of triumph no matter what.

And dontcha know

at that moment

you are riding with the king.

Oh yeah.

Everybody gets their angel wings.

I am hoping everybody who is finishing a semester takes a moment to play air guitar like Sonny Landreth, who, along with John Hiatt, is the king.
