Thought Feldgangs: 1-31-2022

Here is some of the well-spring from this morning.  Some of it is “old path”, old aspirations being allowed free rein again.  Some of it is new minted shiny,  new hopes being driven like a barn spike with a small maul into old oak.

Thoughts about thoughts. Axes and ax handles. And a workshop to fit them all in. Concrete, wood, solar panels, root cellar, a wood stove, sauna, hot tub, a pad outside for observing the firmament and the fireflies and whispering barred owl children.

I am finding my way down the old path to the 1955 International Diamond, Flat Head six-powered school bus tucked under the trees above the hollowway to the creek, the old homestead way, the home for all my old homestead books and magazines living all over the place in our old log home.

Inkstains of honor

Maybe I never made a map of our farm, a fancy framed, calligraphic, gold-leafed map because I always worried it was never completely ours. I need to trace one out, limn out, that imaginary place with all the dragons and faery homes and hollowways and tracks for the Hunt that run across the ley lines of power laid down in the eldertime. FUN!

Mostly I plan for forgiveness. Forgiveness.

Where would this workshop be. We would return to the basketball hoop we planted our first year here. That hoop kept the ground sacred and clear. Flatten that into spell circle and begin the life’s work that I have always wanted.

Beautiful and generous.

What part of beautiful is generous
and what part of generous is beautiful.
If all acts and things that are generous
are beautiful by definition,
but all things beautiful are not necessarily generous,
can there really be
a Venn diagram
of their intersection?
How might we divide the set of beautiful,
but not generous?
I know some beautiful people
who are not generous.
And further, can a non-human thing
even be said to be generous?
If I am truly generous,
I will have to admit
I don’t know.
