Don’t think of this as my persona, but my poets persona, perhaps even a much wiser person than you or I will ever be.  Consider it a well-intended warning you can take as you will.

 

Some “maybe truths” that you might have considered

I have left it too long.

I am gone,

Long gone,

 and I barely know it.

Such a fool to think

I could put off living

 the life I wanted,

 the life I needed:

Pitch and catch

Kites

Walking hand-in-hand

Hugs, strong hugs,

toasting ourselves and those dear and near 

And singing together.
