Tablescapes: In Case of Emergency, Do This Stuff

We are all distracted these days.  The problem is that we don’t choose which distractions control, yours or others.

Sometimes my life feels like this. Emergency, emergency, emergency. A fire is in the air.  So what to do?

What stuff?  This stuff, my stuff, not your stuff. You got your own stuff, but it is OK to borrow this idea if you want to.  It is still better to come up with your own evolving “deck” of oblique and direct stuff (AKA, strategies) for focusing and unfocusing your attention.  Here is part of my evolving Tarot set that I consult when I feel an emergency coming on. Do this stuff if you forget your purpose. OK, ante up and deal. You have skin in this game.

Let me know if you have or need a tool like this so that I won’t think I am a lot off-kilter. Here is what I chose this morning.

While I read I am going to listen to this song in honor of Tony Bennett who died on Friday.  Bill Evans is dead, too, but their souls live on, undistracted and ongoing. My slow read? Guy Davenport’s essay “Every Force Evolves a Form” taken from the same-titled book of essays.
