The latest climate report from the UN. More and more the expression “fiddling while Rome is burning” could not be more apt or literal. And what do we feel when confronted? We feel what we have been groomed to feel: learned helplessness. Just consider how little the elites who went to Obama’s 60th birthday party care. And consider how exponentially less Obama and Co. cared by inviting them. I have learned how helpless I really am in the face of these criminals.
This video is dark in light of the new UN climate reports. It can’t help but be so, but at the end I invoke Buckminster Fuller’s idea of the trim tab as a way to counter learned helplessness. I do not accept my groomers’ lies that there is nothing I can do to shift Containership Earth. We are not helpless. One thing we can all do is to call out all these bad actors who try to push all the eco-hazard of inviting people from all over the world to a thing so morally trivial as one’s 60th birthday party. There needs to be an ‘egregious’ tax on Obama. It needs to be wealth confiscation on a grand scale if he continues to choose his own vanity over my grandchild’s future life. I say, “Fuck Obama and the hopeful lies he rode in on.”
This is what he, alone and without consideration, brings down upon us:

Terry, the video is good and I’ll share it. You provide an example of calling attention to a problem, that I hope many will follow.
However, I don’t agree with your criticism of Obama. There are many, many others, who I feel deserve far greater criticism.

perfect choice of music …

Not an AI choice, but a choice from the Luden5 music library. I use their music to avoid the YT copyright BS. It appears to not trigger the notices. Thanks for dropping by. I have not reciprocate enough on your blog home. I will try to remedy that.

Humans have been dealing the tragedy of individual hubris and choral warnings of impending doom for millennia.

Generally speaking tragedies don’t end well. In the meantime I seek respite from the traumatic effects of anxiety/depression driven by daily reminders of recurrent human failings and climate change https://amp.theguardian.com/environment/2021/apr/20/climate-emergency-anxiety-threapists like yourself through artistic expression.

Thanks for the critique, Daniel. I need all the help I can get.
I can only judge people by their actions. I wish I could give others (Musk, Bezos, any billionaire alive) the comeuppance they deserve, but Obama played his hand so publicly I cannot let it go. I will try to challenge my own hypocrisy (I do drive a vehicle to visit my granddaughter, but I don’t have a 60th birthday that requires anyone to fly in.) Obama used us and worse he used up our belief in ‘hope’ as a tool to get elected and re-elected, adding to our learned helplessness.
Are you aware of how powerfully the black community feels Obama’s betrayal? I would recommend the following podcast for listening to black issues: Fred Hampton Leftists (https://www.fredhamptonleftists.com/) and Chicago-based Hard Lens Media (https://www.youtube.com/c/HardLensMedia99/videos) for local concerns, especially Chicago Corner (https://www.youtube.com/c/ChicagoCorner/videos) Or ask those who are being gentrified by Obama’s presidential library in Chicago.

I too feel that Obama fell far short of the hope that came with his election and I understand how many Black Americans feel betrayed. However, he’s not the only President or politician who deserves blame for the situation we’re facing or who had betrayed voters. He’s not where I focus my energy.
