I read this and the last post you wrote, and I’ve followed you, Simon and others for the past couple of months. I see a tremendous amount of creative energy being devoted to learning how to use the constantly emerging web tools, like Zeega. I don’t comment on many because while I appreciate the creative content, they don’t push the conversation toward those issues I devote my time to…other than to demonstrate new ways to potentially attract eyeballs.
I often have the same concern about the time I’ve spent on the Internet since 1998. Who cares? Who is listening? What impact am I having? Yet I keep coming back because every day I may be touching 100 to 1000 or more who might read a post, look at an article I point to, or borrow an idea that I’ve shared. I can’t talk to that many people in a single day, and I can’t reach that wide a range of people through traditional one-on-one conversations, attending meetings and conferences, etc.
The problems we face, and which we’re passing on to our own kids and grand kids, require huge connections of people and ideas, and to me, the Internet is the only place where large numbers of people can connect and stay connected over many years.
That’s how I met you in 2013 and how we’ve grown our relationship since then.
Hello Daniel,
The work which drives me deals with precisely those issues that you devote your time to. That we should the three of us meet here is not accidental but meaningful.
All is not as it seems…
I’m not superficially engaged or distracted or lurking. Just don’t have time to engage with the depth that I’d like to during the school year. I think about you often and value your intelligence, creativity and work highly.
No. You are none of those things. I really didn’t mean to accuse anyone. I am often more of a ‘git’ as Simon sez than anyone. It was a hard year for me, too. Guess I am just tired. Sorry.

And that may be being optimistic 🙂
I can hear myself in these words.
It’s not fucking worth it Simon. You’re a git.
But for better or for worse there are people who keep me from jacking in the whole bloody masquerade.
You are one of those people.

I value that. Don’t give up.
