Paper Bags

I remember
taking my Mom’s paper bag lunches
to school.
I got bottled milk
for a penny
and chocolate milk on Fridays
for two cents.

After lunch
I would fold my bag all neat
and unless it had
mayo stains from my bologna sandwiches
I would put it
in the bag drawer at home
to be reused.

Here I am
with another paper bag
in another decade
and I have no idea
to do
with it.

My mother has died,
I have moved away from home,
and our children
are all grown
and don’t
need lunch
from me.

I am done,
so what do I do
with this paper bag?
