I am always on the trail of a new rabbit. In this case my nose has sniffed out WebCrates.
It is part of a larger platform called Deta that was created by Product Hunt, a very reliable source for information on new and useful tools. Or at least I think it is this.
I get a spiralling out of control feel when I am on the edge of something that I don’t really understand, like reading legal documents or using GitHub.
What this tool does FOR FREE is to let you create bookmarks and organize those bookmarks into categories that are called “crates”.
There are some default crates: Read Later and Archive. I have created an Introduction to WebCrates crate which you can subscribe to with this public link. And I have subscribed to someone else’s crate here on UI/UX.
The whole shebang reminds me of Wakelet without the flash. It is faster than Wakelet, but less mature, obviously. I always wonder about Wakelet’s business model and that perhaps its slow load is a hint that all is not well with the servers there.
I will be using both tools and noting how they “feel” as a user. It is my backup for now just in case.
