The calendar hits hard this time of year. For whatever reason, January has become the month for planning, but I find that the perspective that calendars render is baffling to me. Do we cast off the days like boats? Do we anchor them with “X’s” to their spots? Are they full in the future and empty in the past? I am perplexed so I figure I ought to perplex you, dear reader.

So… what is a calendar?
Something to be marked off? Something to be filled in?
Something to be landmarked?
Something that means nothing

and not what it ain’t
when it ain’t.
Ha!
