Here is an image with links that mimics my approach this morning to Dan Russell’s Wednesday Challenges. I certainly need the challenge to my skill levels. I recommend to anyone Dan Russell’s book The Joy of Search. The image below has clickable links in the text portion. [Such a pain that was to make. Worthy of anothe blog post.]

Here’s a quick set of directions. Forgive me if I have left anything out. Happy to do a screencast to clarify if you need. I was originally going to do a Thinglink or Voicethreads, but they have both been monetized out the wazoo so…my kluge. I also used the old skool designation of this as an “app smash”. I don’t think this word is used much anymore. Hmmmm. I wonder why.

The book is best used in conjunction with the GoogleGroup and (I failed to mention this in the original post) A Google a Day website(http://www.agoogleaday.com/). Be aware that smart students will think to google the answers, especially with the Wednesday Challenge at Google Groups. Sigh.

Followed your lead, Kevin, placed a hold through my library system. At least once a year I think “I should offer a (middle/high school) course on research methods…” then I get into the crunch and it goes by the wayside.

Hmm – did you build that interactive in Canva? Sorta like ThingLink-ish?

I agree with Kevin, it looks sort of like ThingLink. Is Canva FREE? Does it have a limit of free projects? I created about six in ThingLink but then they wanted me to pay to do more. Darn capitalists!

There IS a free version of Canva that has a lot of capabilities; I’ve used it for years. Additionally, they now offer their pro version for free to educators (probably have to be associated with a bona fide school system) AND to all 501(c)3 nonprofits.

Thanks for noting this. I have an educator account that is Pro and I am glad of it. I think all I had to do was have an .edu email.
