Don’t Do As I Say, Etc.

I cannot believe how much trash I generate just sitting at my desk:

If everybody is like me, we are doomed.  I am reminded of the green politicians like Al Gore and their ilk who generate incredible gobs of carbon flying around with their green message.  When confronted with this unintended consequence you might expect them to change their behavior. Nope.  They are beyond hypocritical. They justify the behavior.   No one could possibly expect them to be logically consistent, right?

My little photo is just my way of pointing the rest of the fingers of blame where they belong–toward me.  What can I do about it:

  1. Individual fig bar wrappers–bake my own fig bars and seal them in airtight containers?
  2. Wet wipes for cleaning my hands of ink and for wiping down my desk surfaces–wash and dry the wipes or devise an alternatives like cotton cloths or knit cotton washcloths.
  3. Lens and phone wipes and their individual wrappers–use spray bottles of alcohol and more durable eyeglass wipes that can be cleaned, maybe re-use rewashed wet wipes.
  4. Keep vigilant about reducing waste for all of the above.

By doing the above I removed about half of these items from the immediate trashstream…maybe.

Maybe if everybody is like future me, then we might be slightly less doomed.  A consummation devoutly to be wished.
