I’m Nobody! Who are you? (260)
I’m Nobody! Who are you? Are you – Nobody – too? Then there’s a pair of us! Don’t tell! they’d advertise – you know! How dreary – to be – Somebody! How public – like a Frog – To tell one’s name – the livelong June – To an admiring Bog!

Got a call from an investigative reporter today who wanted an estimate for cost of mentoring men in age group 16-33 who were our of work and I high violence areas of Chicago. I spoke with him for over 30 minutes to offer some perspective on the problem.
At one point I thanked him for calling, saying most leaders in Chicago have never asked for my input, even though I had 20 years experience. …20 years ago.
I’m nobody, too.

In the attention economy, being nobody might have different connotations than Emily Dickinson’s poem had.
Here’s hoping that people get woke to the diamond that you are. Today, one investigative reporter. Tomorrow, another. And so on until you are running for Mayor. Oh, wait, that’s what Emily meant when she said “how dreary”. I truly admire your capacity to believe in your cause and your self over 20+20 years. Think of all that you have learned in that time. I am grateful for you, your work and the powerful example you are for us all. If folks don’t get it, fuck ’em.
